USE REBATES!

Lately it seems that many companies are issuing full-price rebates to try their products…making them free!  Basically, you just purchase the product and then mail in your receipt along with their rebate form.  In a few weeks, you will receive a check in the amount of the purchase price!  It’s just that simple!!

These rebate forms can be found in-store, online and even in the Sunday coupon inserts!  This is a great way to get a free item and to try a new product!

Savvy Tip of the Day……..Learn Sale Cycles!!!

LEARN & UNDERSTAND SALE CYCLES!!!

Many people fail to realize he money that can be saved when you do some planning when I comes to grocery shopping. Most sales cycles are 6 weeks, so if an item goes to a rock-bottom price, purchase enough to last for 6 weeks!

Stores will host “mega sales” where the savings on items can be huge!  For example, a store may have cereal on sale for $1.29 a box.  Of course, you have a .50 manufacturer coupon!  That is going to make them only .99 a box!  Stock up and purchase 10 or so boxes.  Now do the math…..you just paid $10.00 for 10 boxes of cereal.  If you purchased them at the regular price of $3.79 (taking account the coupon too)  that would be 10 boxes @ 3.29…that’s $32.90!  That would be a savings of almost $23.00!!!

The savings will add up!  Be a savvy shopper & start following sales cycles & start putting more money in YOUR pocket!

Savvy Tip of the Day……….Buy Items You Use!

Couponing can become addicting……..sometimes you just want to grab every deal that you can!  Be careful, while trying to grab every deal, you can go way out of your coupon budget.  For example, if a certain toothpaste is only .49 per tube, but you don’t like it, don’t go crazy and stock up on it.  One item turns into 2 items and so on.  Before you know it, couponing turns into an expensive hobby!

Stick to the budget!  Each week, look at the deals and select the ones that suit you the best.  Go through your stockpile and get the deals that you need!  You’ll definitely be a smarter coupon!

Savvy Tip of the Day……Buy Less so you Can Save More!

When using coupons, make sure to buy the smallest size of a product!  For example, if you have a $1.00 of any toothpaste coupon with no size restrictions, buy the $1.29 toothpaste instead of the $4.29 tube.  Sometime if there is a sample size, we can get it for free as long as the coupon doesn’t restrict trial or sample sizes!!

Savvy Tip of the Day: Always Carry Store Policies With You!!!

savvy tip pic

How many times to you go to Target or CVS & find that different cashiers follow different policies when it comes to couponing??  Some give overage, some don’t, some let you use a certain number of coupons and other limit you to only 1!  It can be soooo frustrating!  sad

The best way to follow a stores policy, is to carry a printed copy of it when you go couponing!  I understand that there is a lot of “bad couponers” out there who take advantage of stores.  However, as a complying customer, we are entitled to their deals as they are stated in their store policy.  I think that some cashiers just aren’t trained on the policies and go off their own rules instead!

If you are ever in a situation when the cashier is questioning a deal, simply show them their policy.  Remember to follow all couponing policies for all stores!

Here are some store policies to get you started:

savvy tip pic

If clipping coupons isn’t your cup of tea, or if you are on a limited budget and can’t afford to buy multiple Sunday papers…start looking in stores for FREE coupons!  Stores have several different types of coupons available for their customers.  Look for these coupons next time you are at the store:

Blinkies:  These are little coupon machines that are attached to the shelves at stores.

Peelies:  These are coupons that are attached to products for instant savings.

Catalinas:  These are coupons that are printed out on a separate machine when you checkout at the store.  You can use these on future purchases.

Remember that you can combine manufacturer coupons with store coupons to reach greater savings!!!

Savvy Tip of the Day…….Always Carry Your Coupons With You!!!

savvy tip pic

I don’t know how many times I’ve missed out on a great deal because I didn’t have my coupons with me!

I’ve learned my lesson, so now I carry my coupons with me when I go shopping!  I simply use a plastic container and have each week binder-clipped!  I stash them in my trunk!  It’s great, because stores like Target always have new clearance daily, so I can grab those deals while I’m shopping.

This way, I don’t have to waste time & gas to go home and grab my coupons!  This is definitely a must do tip to becoming a more efficient couponer….give it a try!
